By Mike Ehrman Following a successful Great Brak River Business Forum (Business Forum) meeting held on the 14th of March I am happy to announce that the Great Brak Business Forum is alive and well. The new committee is made up of Mike Ehrman (Chairman), Jorrie Jordaan, Roland Davids, Lyanne Minnie, Jack van der Lecq and Willem Swanepoel. The areas that will initially be focussed on are; membership, tourism, town upgrade and aesthetics, Safety and Security, business to business, the youth and events. With the formation of any non-profit organisation, a number of organisational issues have to be addressed. As the management committee the aim is to set up the organisation as soon as is possible and to get the participation of all business owners and organisations. The Business Forum aims to be inclusive and represent any organisation in the area of Great Brak River that will derive and bring value to businesses in the region and the town of Great Brak River. As a business owner or as the chairperson of any such organisation we ask you to get hold of us and to join the Business Forum. Quarterly feedback meetings have been scheduled and more regular business to business networking meetings are envisaged throughout the year. The Great Brak Bowls Club have graciously allowed us to make use of their fine facility for our quarterly meetings. The way the Business Forum and ultimately the town benefits, is to ensure you and your fellow business owners sign up and join the conversation. The Business Forum aims to create a cohesive business body and assist in whatever way we can. This will include lobbying the necessary organisations on our member’s behalf to ensure a collective business front is presented when faced with challenges. We aim to link up with and make use of the Mossel Bay Business Chamber, a well-established organisation, and to tap into a wealth of business knowledge and acumen. There are busy times ahead, Great Brak River will not feature when it comes to major land use changes. We are however going to feature in the upgrading of existing infrastructure and with the necessary beautification of public spaces. So let’s get together and ensure there is a unified voice with a clear vision of how we would like to see our public and business spaces developed.
